Thought For The Day

The Marriage Comes

Have you ever thought perhaps God didn’t tell you everything you need to know? I have often wondered why God would offer to reveal Himself (by the power of His Spirit) through His Word, yet leave important details askew so that they would be discovered centuries later and create some degree of dispute among minds that are settled regarding Truth, and those inquiring minds that never seem to have enough information.

In 2012 we got the news about the “Gospel of Jesus’ Wife,” one of the “Mary” girls, most likely Magdalene. Somehow the Father failed to include that tidbit of information in the other Gospels. Also, since the most important events in the life of Jesus of Nazareth are easily found in the Old Testament, is it not strange that it does not appear there either.

But some will never give up – hoping to find something that makes them look “good” and God look “bad.”

The truth may be finally emerging about the “Gospel of Jesus’s Wife,” a highly controversial papyrus suggesting that some people, in ancient times, believed Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene. New research on the papyrus’ ink points to the possibility that it is authentic, researchers say, while newly obtained documents may shed light on the origins of the business-card-sized fragment. (LiveScience)

So, let me offer a clue. Jesus has a chosen Bride. The “marriage supper” is fast approaching. All those who have come to faith in Christ are going to be present for the event. Some will be overjoyed. Some, I think, will be incredulous. There may be those who struggle with the “surprise.”

I plan to be among the first group – Overjoyed! (An understatement!). It will be those who have chosen to ignore, or disregard, or disdain the Bride during these current days that will experience the latter two emotions (and perhaps some other emotions as well).

Her name, by the way, is not Mary. It is Church. Perhaps you will want to get to know something about this Bride — before you miss the Supper.
