Thought For The Day

The Other Day

One of my friends reminds me that I frequently use the phrase “the other day,” when beginning a conversation regarding an action or event that occurred in the past. She says “the other day” can mean anything ranging from yesterday to any number of days, months, or years ago. So when I say what I heard “the other day,” it may have occurred so long ago no one under 50 or 60 is going to “get it.”

It may be a flaw that bothers others, but whenever it happened it seems recent to me. I remember the other day when Ronald Reagan stood to speak and it was a wonderful, uplifting experience, which made me and the people I was around quite happy. It was clear he believed in America, had a plan for being a great leader, and was never afraid to exercise his faith in God. It’s been kind of “downhill” in our great Nation since then when it comes to real leadership. I don’t mean to imply that other leaders haven’t done good things, only that Mr. Reagan was encouraging, understandable, certain, forthright, and a powerful speaker.

I believe our Nation needs such leadership – from local City Councils to the Presidency of the United States. i would be pleased if each of those individuals were Godly, sin-rejecting, Church attending, glorifying God Believers. It is not so, of course. I know that Our Father in Heaven is the one who brings to power those He chooses. I have no idea why. . .but I do not, cannot, will not second guess what He is doing or why He is doing it. I am unalterably certain that what He does is what is right and good for His purposes. I want no other purpose in my life!

We are living in important times, decisions lie ahead, and every decision is critical. Our future is bleak if God allows us to make wrong decisions as we choose our leadership. So, we must not make unwise decisions, rather,  His Spirit within us guides and guards our hearts and minds if we only allow Him to do so. I decided the other day to do just that.

That is why we must pray daily for our leaders in all areas. Especially our pastor and deacons for serving and service to god, and the members of the church and community.
Thank you for all you do.
