Thought For The Day

The Test

I read where “evangelicals” and associated groups are attempting to schedule a meeting with Donald Trump, presumptive nominee of the Republican Party for President of the United States.

They (the “evangelicals”) want to “talk,” rather than hear prepared speeches, ask questions, and, according to a TIME article:

All of these moves signal an attempt to unite a social conservative base that has been deeply fractured over the presumptive GOP nominee. Both the campaign and the constituents groups are testing whether Trump can win their support despite division in the primary. . . (TIME) [Emphasis mine]

Hey, folks, the TEST is not in the answers to questions, or the casual conversations of people who have an agenda. The TEST is the life lived thus far, and the presumptive knowledge (baring an encounter with God that changes the heart and nature of an individual) that the individual in question will continue to live in the same manner going forward.

In politics I have learned a couple of things. Almost everyone claims to be a “Christian.” Very few live up to the Biblical standards (not unlike people outside politics). What they say as candidates is often impossible, or at best, difficult, to correlate to how they govern. How many times I have seen that in my long life.

Here is the issue. If the two candidates who are currently on top succeed in becoming the candidates in the Fall, one best take a look at how they will govern (and I use that term loosely). With one. . .well, we don’t know. With the other, we know very well. To pick one will mean we have some hope of returning to a moderating government. With the other, more of the same destruction of America we have seen over the last eight years.

I will listen to the results of the “meetings” if they occur. But, I am not convinced we are going to hear much Truth. Without Truth, hope is the only thing left.

Thankfully, you cannot get that 500 lb gorilla (truth) out of the room…You can try, but Truth is just a little too big to move.
But You just have to wonder how/why we manage to ignore Truth..
