Thought For The Day

Top Ten

According to Ian Bremmer, founder of Eurasia Group, in 2018 we have ten (10) serious problems to face as a Nation.

Markets are soaring, but divisions are deepening among citizens of both developed and developing countries. Liberal democracy currently has less legitimacy than at any time since World War II, and the global order is unraveling. There has been plenty of turmoil in international politics over the past 20 years, but 2018 looks especially ripe for an unexpected crisis—the geopolitical equivalent of the 2008 financial meltdown. The risk of a “geopolitical depression” forms the backdrop for the top 10 risks of 2018, according to the Eurasia Group, the political risk consultancy I founded and oversee. (TIME)

Here’s his list: China rising, room for geopolitical accidents, the tech cold war, Mexico’s moment, US – Iran tensions, Africa’s security, new protectionism, British brawls, institutions eroding, identity politics in South Asia.

Well, I know those risks scare the dickens out of me!

But I think Mr. Bremmer might have missed the biggest and most important crisis on the Planet. That is, men and women in this World, from your neighbors, to the lands and people around the globe, multiplied millions have yet to come to faith in Christ. Without that, eternity looms with the specter of eternal death – which is separation from God forever.

While I understand that you may not be able to reach people all over the World with your personal testimony of God’s saving grace, there is perhaps an opportunity to reach someone in your neighborhood. I am grateful for your support of World Mission endeavors, and perhaps a missionary or three or more to whom you personally provide financial support. That is a high calling from God. Do not, however, miss the opportunity to be an evangelist (witness) on your own street, your neighborhood, your workplace, or when you are with your friends. We can survive China rising, and British brawls, and a host of other things. We (this World) cannot survive eternity without salvation purchased for us on Calvary by God’s only Son. (see John 3:16)

Ian probably meant to tell you that, but just forgot. So I am filling in, because llove does that!
