Thought For The Day

Truth

Jesus said, “You shall know the Truth, and that Truth will make you free.” (John 8:32)

Don’t you wonder how it is that so few people seem to be cognizant of the Truth? I know I do. I don’t expect that any one of us knows very much of the Truth (that would be the mind of Christ), but collectively we undoubtedly have a good handle on most of it.

I think I have finally come to understand the answer to the question (asked above). People don’t want to know the Truth. The Truth is hard in today’s World. It doesn’t fit with our ideas, our patterns, our ethics, or our desires. When we hear the Truth we find ourselves wondering if there is something else that will allow us to reach Heaven, be in fellowship with the Savior, live in harmony and peace with one another, and know a trouble free life. And the Scripture is clear that even some of those are not promised by  the freedom we have in Christ. Surely there are alternatives. We hope in vain.

That’s what tells us we are not yet free – and thus not yet quite on the track of the Truth. Those who attempt to live in genuine Truth don’t fit well with those who are not free. That’s the rub, don’t you see?

So what’s next?

Amen, Freedom in Christ is available to all.
So, what is next, as you say the culture of hating god is becoming more evident, so God will allow us to be slain as the sheep or we will see 11,000 lying dead at our sides. Either way, our freedom is not compromised.
The hard part for us is to discern what our exact actions look like in this every oppressive society we live.
