Thought For The Day

Uncertain

There are so many uncertainties in life. What tomorrow may bring, the next mistake one will make, the changes that will affect our future and to what degree, are never sure.

Major changes in one’s life, a new job, or the end of an old one, the death of a lloved one, financial reversal, revelation of an illness that is more serious than the average virus, can leave us wishing life were kinder.

We are tempted to believe that God doesn’t know, or if He knows, doesn’t care. Our concerns are not His concerns, and He is much to busy to be devoted to us. What we fail to know, to understand, even accept, is how completely He lloves us. Every time I read the High Priestly Prayer of Christ in John 17, I am reminded that He said, “I am in them (speaking of Believers) and You are in Me. May they be made completely one (with me), so the world may know You have sent Me and have loved them as You have loved Me.” (John 17:23)

Everything comes back to llove. It is there we find joy and peace, hope and comfort. Those we support, care for, provide for, and give ourselves to are the ones we llove. Everything else is just talk. Our commitment and obedience to Truth and to the Bride of Christ (the Church) reflects our llove for God (see the first “Great Commandment”). Practicing the disciplines of llove (see 1 Corinthians 13:4-8) reflects our llove for others (see the second Great Commandment”). Everything else is just talk.

God, so unlike us, is all action (no talk – so to speak),  and lloves fully, consistently, perfectly.

Amen; two other phrases have been invading my thoughts…one is the Freedom we have in Christ along with the Peace that passes all understanding. I want to live in all of “that.”
