Thought For The Day

Unusual Tree

In Bahrain, a group of islands between the Qatar peninsula and the North Eastern coast of Saudi Arabia, there is an unusual tree.

This tree is approximately 400 years old and 9.75 meters high. The tree is unusual as it is situated in the desert and is the only tree growing for miles around and there is no clear water supply. The Prosopis cineraria or mesquite tree has extremely deep root systems which is believed to be the way it reaches water, although the tree still remains a mystery. If you search for the Tree of Life on Google Earth, you can see how remote it is. The tree is a major tourist attraction and 50,000 people visit it each year. Local inhabitants believe that this was the actual location of the Garden of Eden. This tree is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (ListVerse)

I am pretty sure that is not where the Garden of Eden was, but then who knows? It is nothing short of amazing, however, that any tree could grow in that environment. I also find it ironic that it is a “mesquite” tree. The mesquite trees I am familiar with are not so hardy as to live 400 years in a desert.

Wherever it is getting its water from, it should be thankful that there is a supply. Of course the real Tree of Life is the cross on which Jesus of Nazareth died some 2000 years ago. It was there on that tree that God’s justice was satisfied, the punishment for our transgressions was borne in Christ’s body, and His death, the final sacrifice, was sufficient to give eternal life to all who believe. As a result there is the Water of Life available so that all of us might live in righteousness, joy, peace, and hope. Jesus said, “But whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty again — ever! In fact, the water I will give him will become a well of water springing up within him for eternal life.” John 4:14 HCS

If you don’t know where to find this “water,” contact me and I will give you some ideas.
