Thought For The Day

Vision

Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) was a preacher in London, England. He remains highly influential among Christians of various denominations, among whom he is known as the “Prince of Preachers”) said, “If we have a deaf ear to the Lord, we must not marvel that we have a dumb tongue.”

We will not be effective in ministering to, or teaching others, if we ourselves are not taught by the Spirit of God. And for that process to be effective we need (at least)  four attitudes (not much harder than always having the right attitude).

The Attitude of Attention. We must hear from God – His voice in the Word (Scripture), the voice of Christian Ministry, the voice of Providence, the voice from the grave, and the voice of the Spirit (that soft, mysterious whisper only the Spiritual know.

The Attitude of Patience. Waiting on the Lord, and staying in the Word until we understand and learn application to circumstances.

The Solitary Attitude. There are times when one must stand alone. The Church of Jesus Christ is often asleep, even as the disciples slept in the Garden of Gethsemane.

The Attitude of Submissiveness. We must submit our will to His. We so often approach God with our design, interpretation, goals, and plans. That will never allow His Will to be known.

Accomplishment of our Mission will succeed when we have a vision brought about by God alone. Find time alone – to be with God alone.
