Thought For The Day

What We Need To Be About

Are you a member of the Body of Christ? Do you belong to a local Church (I mean, have you invested your life in a group of Believers who gather regularly for Worship and Edification?)?

If so, let me remind you of that which is so vitally important for you as an individual, and your collective Body. We need to understand that we are to be at peace. We are to practice and receive edification. We are to multiply.

Acts 9:31 tells us that those three thing happen when we “walk in the fear of the Lord,” and when we are “lead, encouraged, and under the control of the Spirit of God.” That is both an individual and a collective activity. Without those two realities in our life, we are going to discover there is little peace, we will fail in our growth toward maturity, and we will not be about the task of proclaiming the Gospel to a lost and dying World.

So many Churches (a very specific group of people, by the way) have lost their way in these matters. We have become inwardly focused both individually and collectively. We often talk about reaching our community, our State, our World, but can’t find the time to “edify” one another utilizing our Spiritual gifts, much less those outside our group or outside faith in Christ. We have not attained a maturity that would coincide with our time indwelled by the Spirit (that comes with salvation), hence, we are not busy sharing the Gospel, or even occasionally sharing the Gospel, and we have the audacity to wonder why there is so little peace in our own hearts, much less in the Body at large.

This is not a Loveletter of condemnation. Rather, it is intended as a Lloveletter of encouragement. The Spirit awaits our yielding to His control. Discover your gift and exercise it for the good of those around you in the Body of Christ. Share your faith with someone who will perish without it. Peace will come.

So the church throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace, being built up and walking in the fear of the Lord and in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, and it increased in numbers. Acts 9:31
