Thought For The Day

What’s Next

I suppose it is not unusual for someone, anyone, to find themselves wondering – what’s next? Perhaps things have taken an unexpected turn at work, things are changing, and one lies in bed at night wondering – what’s next?

Perhaps, after enjoying a wonderful vacation, your mind may wander toward your “bucket list.” Perhaps, at least until the daily grind begins to be familiar again, it is easy to start thinking – what’s next?

Unfortunately there are times when bad things happen to good people. One finds themselves in an automobile accident, or hail pounds holes in the roof, maybe your teen-age son or daughter get’s a citation for using a cell phone in a school zone. . .for the second time. Then the question – what’s next?

Actually life is a series of “what’s next” encounters. Some are very good, and, honestly, some are not so good. One reality is that we need not operate as if there are no “what’s next” experiences. As we grow older, and we all do, the impact of the good things and the bad things may lessen. After all, experience, while taking from us the vim and vigor of youth, has taught us that something else is just around the corner.

I participated in another funeral this past week. One of my newest (in time) and oldest (in age) friends found his last “what’s next,” and went home to Glory. That “what’s next” is on the itinerary for each of us.

I encourage you to spend some time preparing for it.
