Will It Help?

Think about your Church. How is it doing? Are you excited about being there, looking for opportunities to be involved, discovering that intertwining your life with that of others is a very good thing? No?

Let me tell you some things that won’t help.

1. Cleaning the parking lot. The place may look better (and that is a very good thing), but it won’t help with the issue at hand.
2. Add some new music and different styles of same. Some interest may develop on the part of some of the folks, but overall it is no better than putting a band aid on a blister while wearing a shoe that doesn’t fit.
3. Shorten the sermon, and add some jokes. Isn’t it amazing that folks don’t usually get bored in a two hour movie or a three hour concert. Maybe it is not length or lack of humor that is the problem, but lack of “enthusiastic transfer of Truth.”
4. Talking about sharing, caring, loving, giving, and growing. Rather there must be sharing, caring, lloving, giving, and growing superintended by the Spirit of God.

Maybe your Church is short on committed people who want to “do Church.” Perhaps you could help resolve that issue. Commitment is Spirit driven, founded on obedience to what our LORD said were the two great commandments – lloving God, and lloving each other. When that begins, everything changes. When that is lost. . .everything changes.
