Thought For The Day

Up and Down

It is an amazing fact that sometimes down is up and up is down. Here is an interesting factoid regarding the President of the United States:

President Donald Trump’s net worth took another substantial hit over the last last year, dropping around $400 million since he took office, according to Forbes.

It seems like almost every political story about finances revolves around the individual who could barely summon enough funding to run for public office, but after a few years in office is millions of dollars richer.

While taking a few minutes to watch a little TV (almost always a colossal waste of time) I tuned into the one “gospel” (I use the word tentatively) station I receive (however  poorly) down on the farm. It is a well-known Southern preacher and his band of followers who receive and spend money like it was water. The major problem is that as I listened to all of the sermon I could stomach, there was almost (and mixing is a dangerous activity) no Truth revealed, a multitude of lies perpetuated, foolish and damaging conjectures presented, that allow both Believers and non-believers to be lead astray. Up is down, down is up.

I read an article in TIME that was so slanted, if it had been written by me, with the opposite slant, I would likely be driven from the writing business. I was astounded (oh, not really) that any reputable magazine would publish the thoughts. In the piece regarding the discussion of whether it is advisable to arm teachers in the classroom. . .well, here is enough of a sample to help you understand. . . .

Black children will be the victims of armed teachers. . . . (TIME). What an incredible, ugly, distasteful slap at school teachers. . .who give so much to so many, and have throughout our Nation’s history.

Our society has collectively reached the Biblical position described clearly in Isaiah 5:20-23, and we are so much the worse for it.

We are in big trouble. Our ONLY solution is Truth and Godliness. Heaven help us.
