Thought For The Day

Walking. . .

You are perhaps familiar with the terminology “walk in Him.”  Paul, in writing to the Colossians (see Colossians 2: 6-7) gave us the key for accomplishing that directive. Most of us miss the depth of importance in being able to follow the Scriptural mandate. Paul (under the inspiration of God’s Spirit) makes the matter clear if only we will follow direction.

The key is in the beginning of verse 6, ” As you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him.” One must be quick to remember that we received Him “by faith.” We realized our separation from God, confessed with our mouth, and believed in our heart (see Romans 10:9-10,13), and received the indwelling Spirit deep within our innermost being. Now that He is resident in us we have the power to resist the Enemy, ignore the pull of Worldly habits, avoid the conflicts of “stinking thinking” and order our lives following the walk of Christ our Lord during His Earthly journey – Living, a life of absolute obedience (pleasing to the Father); Lloving – He came, He lloved; Serving – He ministered to need; Giving – He gave Himself, the ultimate gift.

It is the walk of faith: Holy, Pleasing, Obedient. His life was unique because of those characteristic. So to we can live a life that is pleasing to God as we walk through these difficult days. By  Faith. Do you believe that?
