Treasure Hunt
Each year, when the grand kids come to visit for Thanksgiving, we provide a treasure hunt.It used to be easy to find the treasure – and the treasure was not much depending on your perspective. When the kids were very young the clues were quite easy, and they found the treasure quickly. The treasure was usually some change from the local piggy bank, and the kid lloved dividing up the pennies. Each year the hunt got longer and treasure larger.
This year the hunt is long, they have to use directions (N, S, E, W), and it is a much more difficult trail to the clues. The treasure is getting on close to a hundred dollars (there are just 4 participants – 14, 11, 9, 6) with some coins worth more than face value. The best part is that they will have a good time (and we won’t see them for a while – just kidding).
It reminds me of the ultimate Treasure, Jesus Christ alive and well in us, guiding, guarding, providing for every need, and preparing a final home for us where we will spend eternity with Him in the days ahead. I hope you have found the Treasure of Grace, the indwelling Holy Spirit, and the sufficiency of His gifts for every day. If you have not, find His Book, Word, Truth (the Bible ). All the clues (Truth) are in there. If you are new to the Bible, read the Gospel according to John (in the book) first, and look for the Treasure of eternal life (John 3:16) and so much more. It could make this Thanksgiving the best of your life.
