Renewal
The Preacher keeps complaining to me about his struggles with briars. Since he spends so much time in the woods cutting them (which he is certain is his calling these days), one should recognise that one is going to get scratched, bloody, and find torn shirts or jeans in the process. It reminded me of the parallel between that situation and another one in the Church of Jesus Christ. We have to admit we are sometimes in the “briar patch” with folks who are yet not mature in the Faith, and therefore still “scratchy.” In fact, all of us are like that at times. Cross words, having anxiety feelings, selfish, and just plain unpleasant to be around, is prevalent.
Is there a solution? Yes and No. If we can regularly grasp a little Truth, and work consistently to live it out, then yes. If we are unwilling to see it in us, and are not busy in maturing on a daily schedule, then no, we are failing the Father and the brethren. I picked a few Scriptures to help with the process. Look them over. Give them a try…every day.
Psalm 51:10 – Prayer is as important as breathing!
Isaiah 40:31 – Waiting on the Lord is sometimes arduous – before we speak, act, respond, or take action.
2 Timothy 2:15 – Knowing the Truth is not easy to accomplish, but it is mandatory for strength and maturity,
Hebrews 12:12-14a; 13:1 – The Kingdom is not built by the unlearned,
