Thought For The Day

Churches and Easter

God’s family (usually called “the Church”) can celebrate (or not) this time of the year. We here at Lloveletters decided long ago that the the word “Easter” was not one we choose regarding the Sunday many Christian Believers celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the death he chose at Calvary. Trying to utilise the World’s foolishness to somehow focus minds on the sacrifice that changed the history of God’s people forever, is foolish at best. The old Covenant of Law was exchanged for the Covenant of Grace and Llove with the death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, ending the curse of sin and death for those who believe and are born into a new life powered by God’s Spirit. That amazing Truth has no connection to, nor need for, the trappings of Easter.

Traditions are hard to escape, and the amazing Grace of God is cheapened (meaning less clear) by any attachment to the “things” of this World. The Church, those called out of darkness into Light (see 1 John 1:5)  must find itself rejecting any distraction from making  clear the “Way of God.”
