Ever Have One of Those Thoughts
Something comes to mind – and you think about it. What shall I do? If it regards two matters or more of accomplishing tasks, you have to make a decision. Maybe do this first. . .then follow with the other. Or maybe you get busy on a task and forget about the other thought altogether. It’s easy to make the mistake of choosing only one when two are very important. Time slips away more quickly as we grow older. What seems like forever for a child, is a split second for an “old” person.
Down here on the farm there are a lot of choices made. Get that brush cut, stacked and burned today, and make that trip to see an old friend tomorrow. Wash the car because people think you don’t care about how it looks, and get the oil changed next week (its only been 14,000 miles since you took it in for new oil.) Read a book, or watch a movie? Call a friend – no they are busy, wait till next week. They are just thoughts that run through your mind. . .and you choose one or two, and let the others go.
They are just thoughts (and no one will know you thought about them, so no big deal), or perhaps they are promptings of the Spirit of God in you. Yes, you can send a text or e-mail, but there is no emotion in that. You can put it off a day or week – the opportunity will come again – then again. . .maybe not.
I’ve been think about, even promising to go see some old friends for eight years. But now I have a day set. The thought often comes but. . .well excuses abound. Not this time. I am going. I am excited. I think they will be excited too.
