Hard to Believe
Sometimes when one reads something, or hears something, or gets a phone call in which a message gets delivered, it is hard to believe. Perhaps the call comes from your bank and they are reminding you that your checking account is empty and you need to stop writing checks. Maybe it is when the school calls and tells you that your child has misbehaved (My child, never. There must be a mix-up) and they need you to come to the school as soon as possible.
On the other hand there are those calls that come to let you know that you have won $685,000 and you need to contact them about how to retrieve the windfall. You are most wise if you just disconnect and move on with your day. If it’s real (un huh – sure) they will find a way to reach you.
One of the “difficult to believe” struggles comes when we begin to really understand the Scripture’s presentation of the nature of God. Of all the possibilities, one stands above all others in my mind. It has to do with forgiveness on the part of God and His actions regarding sin. As a Believer you may find yourself caught in a sinful action that you take to God for forgiveness (see 1 John 1:9), and after He forgives, you subsequently become concerned regarding that very sin (unrepeated), and wonder if it is really forgiven. It is vital that one forgive themself, but the misunderstanding regarding the nature of God must be known and ACCEPTED.
It is I who sweep away your transgressions for My own sake and remember your sins no more. Isaiah 43;25
As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12
He will again have compassion on us; He will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:19
I will never again remember their sins and their lawless acts… Hebrews 10:17
Receive it! Believe it! Live free from the enduring curse of sin that He has ended.
