Wild Hogs
Every once in a while I see a wild hog. Sometimes out in the back pasture they will do a good bit of damage as they rip up the ground in an attempt to find grubs (worms) and other things that they eat. For most farmers they are a menace and getting rid of them is a top priority.
When I arrived at our lovely Church building. a few days back, I was shocked to see the landscape we try to keep attractive, torn and ravaged by a passel of those critters. Since we are right on the outskirts of town, I was surprised to see that they had come so close to where there is significant traffic. On both sides, and front and back, they had wreaked havoc on what was a pretty nice yard. If you have never seen their work, it might surprise you how much damage they can do in a very short amount of time.
Now, we have to resolve that problem. I am working on a solution that is both affordable and does not require me to do most of the work.
My mind wandered to the damage done inside Church families by the folks who are sometimes thoughtless regarding the actions they take and the words they use when communing with each other. Not much good comes from those times when we ignore someone, or speak a harsh word to someone’s child, complain about the music, or the message, or the attire of those who are not so willing to submit their choice of clothing to the discriminating eyes of another. On occasion thing are said that bring the reality that another brother or sister will never return to the family, or a heart will be broken, or a budding learner will stop pressing on, and a child will forever remember that “mean old man” who was always critiquing them negatively.
Frankly, I would rather deal with the hogs out in the yard.
