A Billion Dollars?

Who says you can buy a public office? Actually you can. It’s just a matter of “snowing” enough people, and that can happen if you purchase enough “advertising.”

One candidate for President of the United States is hoping to raise a billion dollars ($1,000,000,000,000) to spend on self-promotion. Others will follow suit. In fact, the most important part of a campaign for public office has much less to do with what the candidate believes and promises (now there’s a word we need to spend some time on) to do for the betterment of the Country, than it does on fund raising.

If any of you boys and girls out there are being told, “you can become President of the United States,” you need to understand that is true only if you are very rich (think billionaire), or have very rich friends, or you can raise money among others better than most.

Which, perhaps makes it all the more amazing that God’s grace is free. God chooses to rescue you from the sin which separates you from Him, justify you fully, redeem you from the curse of sin, move you from death to life and darkness to light, all for FREE. It is a marvelous, infinite, magnificent gift – your’s for the taking. You get life abundant and free here and now, and a forever home in God’s eternal Kingdom. There are probably a billion reasons to accept that gift – and not a single dollar will change hands.
