Let’s Be Caring. . .and Wise
On Sunday (9/11/2011) our Church commemorated the tragedy that befell New York City and our entire Nation ten years ago. The loss of life is an immense tragedy and we must always remember the reasons behind the hurt and resulting changes in all our lives.
But we must also be wise. Here is a quote from today speaking about a particular young man whose father perished:
Immediately after the attacks, he was one of more than a thousand children left suddenly without a parent. (Yahoo News)
We would be wise to remember that there are children left every day without a parent, and regardless of the mode of death (and many are very tragic), it is no less difficult for the individuals involved.
I am not in any way suggesting we care less about those who lost lloved ones in New York. Rather, let’s remember to be caring in relationship to everyone who loses a parent. . .or a child, or a spouse, seemingly “before their time.”
Death is the natural result of life. While we must embrace that Truth, we can never, never be “care – less” about any death and the resultant pain it brings to others.
