Thought For The Day

Anybody can be. . .

I grew up with the idea that any natural born U. S. citizen could be President of the United States of America. Sometimes that thinking was used to motivate boys to work harder at their studies, or to motivate girls toward recognizing that it is not a gender issue (of course, so far it has been).

Now that I am a little older ( hey, it’s all relative) I understand that the familiar statement needs a little enhancement. “Any natural born citizen of the United States of America can be President provided he can raise a couple ‘a hundred million dollars.”

The Obama Campaign and Democratic National Committee raised a combined $70 million for the 2012 campaign from July through September, the groups reported today in an email to supporters. (Yahoo News)

We are told by the “media” that candidates will be dropping out of the polls (and presumably the race) soon because they are not raising enough money. It’s not that their ideas are a problem – or their philosophy won’t fit mainstream America – it is that they can’t raise the required financial support running takes. Ergo, they cannot be President of the United States.

The really Good News, however, is that anyone can be redeemed. Salvation is a gift from God. It is available for the taking – by faith, because of His grace, provided by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on Calvary. Rich people, poor people, people of every age and ethnicity, good people, bad people – Jesus Christ is in the forgiveness business.

Now that is GOOD NEWS!
