Thought For The Day

Speeding Through Life

Some folks travel through life much faster than others. Regardless of the speed, there is always danger, followed at times by despair, and sometimes death. Such was the case yesterday in the IndyCar race in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It was crowded — 34 cars — and drivers were speeding, even by Indy standards, getting up to 225 mph. As ABC News’ Josh Elliott noted, “Even the tiniest mistake can touch off wrecks like we see today.” (ABC News)

With one driver killed, and three others seriously injured, it was a “bad day” for IndyCar. And while these men and women choose this sport voluntarily, we cannot help but wince at the pain it can cause.

Men and women all around us are racing through life – and the probability of some major or minor catastrophe is very real. It is the calling of God’s people to be a catalyst for providing insight (via the Truth of God’s Word) to those who are on a collision course with tragedy. Let me encourage you to be the Light – or to find the Light, before the plodding speed of time ends your opportunity.
