Thought For The Day

Scientists Get It Right – sorta

Scientists are notorious for thinking foolish things (from a spiritual perspective) but they may be close here.

At the Large Hadron Collider, the giant particle accelerator built deep beneath the mountains on the French-Swiss border, they think they may have found a sub-atomic particle which has picked up the name -“The God Particle.”

Scientists at CERN, the European Center for Nuclear Research in the Alps, say today that while they have not found it for sure, they think they have seen good signs of it. (Ned Potter, ABC News)

Well it certainly is a step in the right direction. If they (or anyone else) keep looking they will find not only “the particle” but the whole God. At the very least, according to the same article, they are on track with their thinking regarding the whole matter –  scientists say. . . it would help explain why we, and the rest of the universe, exist. It would explain why the matter created in the Big Bang has mass, and is able to coalesce. Without it, as CERN explained in a background paper, “the universe would be a very different place…. no ordinary matter as we know it, no chemistry, no biology, and no people.

Yes, I know, they are still a little lost on the “Big Bang Theory,” but they are right about the God part. Without Him the Universe would be different in that it would not exist, and there would be no chemistry, no biology, and no people.

But we are here. And God did give us an incredible Universe and we have all sorts of things to study and learn (I know how much I love biology and chemistry), and God provided that people could be “different” because of His wonderful Christmas gift of the Savior. Personally, I hope they find HIM soon – every particle of His being. Then they with us can truly say, “Merry Christmas, and thanks God for the incredible gift of llove sent to us so long ago.”
