Thought For The Day

Taking Time

We have, as a Nation, some severe problems. Isn’t it good to know that those folks we elect to represent us in Washington D. C. are hard at work making sure that our individual voices are heard and that the majority voice (that’s democracy) is heeded under the constraints and/or freedoms of the law (that’s a Republic)?

Of course one cannot work all the time. I have decided today that I will join our Senators in a short break –

The Senate has left town and is not scheduled to return until Jan. 23. Moreover, the holidays are a prime time for traveling congressional delegations. . . (Christian Science Monitor)

I talked to my boss (the Preacher) about some time off from writing this post (is that cheering I hear?), and he has graciously (naturally) allowed me to join our Senators. This will be my last post (unless I get restless) until January 2nd (what, you thought he would let me go till the 23rd?).

During this break I am going to celebrate the Spirit of Christmas – meaning I will Worship on December 24th and 25th and January 1st with my Church family. I’m going to “watch for the New Year” (December 31st) with the folks I llove most, and I am going to spend time with my family and friends, stop in to see some who are hurting, and hopefully bring a little cheer to a few folks along the way. And, that is exactly what you ought to do as well. After all, your Senator is leading the way – showing us how to really care about the people around us.

That you are reading this is a colossal joy to me. I hope you will be reading again next year.
