Thought For The Day

Jeremiah and Me

Jeremiah, the Old Testament Prophet who wrote the book called by his name, along with the book of Lamentations, is certainly a special person. His ministry over a period of forty-two years is a fascinating look at Judah and the coming judgment of God in the lives of its inhabitants.

I can’t escape the fact, however, that we (each Believer) have a biography quite similar to that of Jeremiah, at least in the beginning. First, we are all chosen by God and set apart (“sanctified” is the theological word) for a particular and specific ministry in the Kingdom of God. Secondly, it is when we come to discover that “divine mission” that our life takes on the gifts of God’s provision, protection, and power for accomplishing that mission.

In a world with so many problems resulting from rebellion to Truth, and disobedience to God’s standards, we (individually, and collectively as The Church) can little afford not to be about our “business.” As we move quickly toward God’s judgment on iniquitous living, it is vital that we are sharing Truth and living lives which mirror the Savior’s presence.

Get in, Believer, the battle rages on.
