Facts! Meaning Truth?
Fact checking seems to be big business right now. It is not because we are necessarily ignorant of the facts, but because everyone is lying – or perhaps I mean “shaping the narrative toward one’s personal political view.”
I will soon end my slant toward politics in these posts. Your vote is so important during this election season, however, I believe I must encourage you to be wise and discerning from a political perspective.
At Centre College in Danville, KY, at 9pm ET, Biden and Ryan will tangle on issues including health care, the national debt, and taxes. Need help keeping the facts straight as the contenders pontificate from their podiums? (Yahoo News)
By the time you read this (probably – since it is sent to you the day after it is published) the debate will be over and what has been said will be endlessly argued until the next debate between the Presidential candidates. The issue is, we still don’t know the facts. I am not sure anyone knows the facts. I would like to think that someone does, but the TRUTH is, almost everyone twists and turns the facts until they fit whatever model one is attempting to develop.
The whole of that is true as well in the Spiritual realm. The TRUTH is often clouded by our attempts to build a model that fits the design necessary to tailor our desired outcome. The TRUTH of God’s Word becomes a malleable vehicle for indolence, on one hand, and sordid personal gain on the other.
Possessed by the Spirit of God and grounded in the Truth as revealed in His Word, we can be enlightened, and set free from the chains of slavery to sinful behaviors, rebellion, and the lethargy of ignorance.
Check those facts!
