How Crazy Will the Media Get?
I should have expected it – actually I think I predicted it. The “media” or “press” in this Country are going to write (produce) the agenda that “low information” folks will take as “gospel.” Here is a great example:
HEADLINE: Gun deaths set to outstrip car fatalities for first time in 2015
Deaths from firearms are set to outstrip car fatalities for the first time, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and reported by Bloomberg News. The CDC estimates that auto-related deaths–long on the decline as more motorists wear seat-belts and face harsher penalties for drunk driving–will fall to 32,000 in 2015. Deaths from firearms, which include suicides and accidents, are estimated to rise to 33,000 over the same period. (Liz Goodwin, Yahoo News)
Come on Liz. Here is what the “low information” people don’t read or hear:
Every day, 85 Americans are shot dead, about 53 of them in suicides. (IBID.)
Liz didn’t give us the stats on how many are accidents. Out of the 32 that are not suicides, how many of them are “accidents?” Let’s say it’s 10. Or you pick a number. That leaves 22 that are “gun deaths” we (the masses) would assumed to be caused by someone else. At that rate, we are never going to get close to the number killed in automobile “accidents,” some of which have to be murders and suicides.
But it fits the narrative. Guns cause more deaths than cars.
Since we are looking for solutions to “gun deaths” – here’s one: When the Government starts taking guns from citizens, take them first from everyone who is going to commit suicide, and, everyone who is going to accidentally shoot to death someone else. That will make a big, big dent in “gun deaths.”
You’re welcome!
A lot of people handle Scripture exactly the same way the “media” handle statistics. The make it say whatever they want it to say. For example: “Money is the root of all evil.” Or, “God helps those who help themselves.” I’ve got a thousand dollars for anyone who can show me either of those from any Biblical reference.
