Thought For The Day

Responsible

For each of us who have responsibility or oversight in some matter, there is a point where we either succeed or fail in the task. When we fail the easiest thing to do is put forth the rhetoric which will sound as if we are going to do better – but nothing ever seems to change. The truth is, we have heard it all before. . .and before. . .and before.

“I’ll do everything in my power to make sure nothing like this happens again—by holding the responsible parties accountable, by putting in place new checks and new safeguards, and, going forward, by making sure that the law is applied as it should be: In a fair and impartial way.”(Yahoo News regarding the latest IRS scandal)

Washington is shoulder deep in all sorts of things for which no one seems to take the final responsibility.  I operate on the philosophy that – if you know what is happening around you and you take no responsibility – you should be fired. If you don’t know what is happening around you, you are incompetent – and should be fired.

If we implement that – Washington will be soon empty of personnel.

Thank God, He is responsible. When He saw our failure, He took action to redeem us. He is always vigilant – sending His Spirit to guide, direct, and keep us. We need never fear He is failing to respond correctly and adequately in every circumstance.

The folks in Washington could learn a lot from Him.
