Thought For The Day

Listening to the People

It seems to me that the majority of people in the United States are “fed up” with Congress (check those poll numbers). The majority seem to be opposed to Congress’ take on immigration reform. It’s the same for the Affordable Health Care Act, the IRS intrusion into private matters that are none of their business, and the Administration’s spying on News organizations and Heaven only knows how many others.

Aren’t most Americans wanting the Federal Government to “butt out” of local politics – like prayer in schools, posting of the Ten Commandments, crosses in public places, and the insurance one chooses to buy or not?

Maybe it’s time for John Kerry, Secretary of State, to come home and say to our “leadership” what he says to other Country’s leaders:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Egypt’s leaders must respect the views of the Egyptian people, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said in a call with Egypt’s foreign minister on Tuesday, according to a State Department spokeswoman. In the call, Kerry told Mohamed Kamel Amr: “It is important to listen to the Egyptian people.”

All most people (and we are teetering on the edge of being less than most) want from their Government is what is spelled out in the United States Constitution. Everything beyond that is “overreach.” At the rate we (read: U. S.) are going, it probably won’t be long before there are millions taking to our streets in an attempt to reign in our out-of-control Government.
