Thought For The Day

Who Is That Guy?

Whatever your political persuasion, Independent, Democrat, Green, Libertarian, Communist, or Republican, etc., I think you have to consider Senator Ted Cruz.

America’s Government was designed as a Representative Republic. We have strayed a good bit from that over the years, but many people remember (Civics used to be taught in public schools) what that means.

People elect someone to go to Washington, D. C., and represent their views, ideas, concepts, hopes, dreams, etc., and (in part) craft legislation that is good for the Nation as a whole, provide for the common defense, and establish a National budget to pursue the items enumerated in the Constitution as the responsibility of the Federal Government.

I won’t take time to delve into the depths of how that has morphed into a monstrosity which has our Nation on the brink of disaster, but I will say that Ted Cruz appears to be a man who is doing exactly what he said he would do, staying true to his campaign promises, and believing that his job is to accomplish what he was elected to do. Agree or disagree, you have to give him that. He is the rarest of the rare, in my opinion.

Now, I want to be associated with Believers like that. We have made a commitment to make Christ LORD of our lives. We have signed on to the discipline of His calling, committed to obedience to the revealed Word of God, accepted (not always knowledgably) the empowering Spirit of God into our innermost being, and understand that we are to intertwine our life with other Believers (the Church).

So, simply said, it is time to “put up, or shut up.” Ted Cruz has just demonstrated one way to do that. Learn a lesson. I am not asking you to support him. Do that or don’t. But, for Heaven’s sake, learn a lesson.
