Thought For The Day

A Word of Encouragement

Last evening (October 20, 2013) our Preacher talked about the end of this life and our transition to the next. Perhaps the most important thing he said was that it is not a privilege we have to choose how and when we leave this phase of our life. Rather, that is reserved for God. He reminded us that God has numbered our days. He has set the boundaries of each life, and, as Jesus taught, since we cannot change our stature (a small thing), we certainly cannot change the length of our life (a big thing). (See Luke 12:25) Consequently, we are foolish to worry or be concerned about it.

What we can do, as Believers, is to make wise plans for the eventual reality. It is an act of llove toward our family to make arrangements for the time we leave this life for Heaven’s glory. Making decisions regarding the disposition of our bodies, the manner in which any services might be conducted, and, if required, securing a place of burial
for our remains, means that those who care for us will not be required to make the decisions they are least likely to be prepared to accomplish.

It may seem there is much time left to make such decisions. I assure you, it is time to prepare. The day will come when you and your family will be glad you did.
