Extreme Ideologues
As you read this note (Tuesday), voters in Albuquerque, NM, are deciding, via a municipal ballot, whether or not to ban late-term abortions (after 20 weeks). As always the language and emotions are heated, but there are a couple of new wrinkles from my perspective.
This is the first time this issues has been on a municipal ballot. A Pro-Choice America leader said, “her group is watching the election closely. “I am concerned every single time these extreme ideologues [emphasis mine] seek to roll back what we believe is settled law in terms of a woman being able to make decisions about her health.” (Associated Press)
Well, I don’t think I have ever been called that before. I kinda like it.
National organizations on both sides have descended on Albuquerque. Sara Hutchinson, domestic program director for the group [Pro-Choice America] said, “We have been hearing from lots of Catholics in Albuquerque who are unhappy that this is being pushed through their churches, in what is supposed to be a sacred space.” [emphasis mine] (IBID.)
Can you imagine that? Someone “pushing through” for the saving of lives from the murderous practice of abortion – in a “sacred space.” The gall of those “ideologues.”
You would expect, of course, that Planned Parenthood of New Mexico, would join in the fray. Julianna Koob said, “Quite frankly I think they are giving misleading and biased information both on the ballot and in the graphic stuff they are using. It is really disrespectful to the voters. … It doesn’t reflect the intelligence of the Albuquerque voters.” (IBID.)
And what, you might ask, is the “biased information” and “graphic stuff” that is being shared? Pictures of aborted babies torn limb from limb in late term abortions, and other assorted “disrespectful” gruesome fare are depicted.
Let’s pray that the Albuquerque voters understand the Truth.
