Seems Strange To Me
I have heard all of my life about various schemes to “unite the Church.” Of course the real Church (the Bride of Christ made up of those redeemed by the blood of the Lamb) is united in Christ. It is all the pretenders who are constantly looking for some way to “unite” all the popular beliefs and concepts, especially those that are extra-Biblical or anti-Biblical, and usually both.
Now, perhaps the solution is on the horizon. It will cost you some money – but hey, we need to make the folks who thought this up (of course, they say it was a God inspired dream) rich and famous. (They are not non-profit. . .because, according to the Nowlands, “no one respects non-profits.”)
Laurie and Mike Nowland are on a mission to build a giant cross monument that will be bigger in volume than the three Great Pyramids, after being inspired by a dream. It will also serve as “a massive columbarium and mausoleum that will be a physical memorial to Jesus Christ,” holding the remains of 1 million believers.
“The goal was to build a landmark that would serve to once again unite the body of Christ. . . .” (The Huffington Post)
Well now! Surely I am misunderstanding. The goal here is to “unite the body of Christ” by putting one million dead “believers” in the same grave. Naturally there is no clear definition of what a “believer” is, since they can come from any group as long as they can pony up the money for a spot. . .excuse me, tomb.
I couldn’t help but chuckle when the article said that the monument “would last for 10,000 years.” Do you suppose it will survive the dissolution of the planet?
