Thought For The Day

Lost

Perhaps it is just an advertisement gone awry for the new TV reality series, “Lost In Southern Asia.” It is hard to believe that a Boeing 777 with 200+ people on board could just disappear on some deserted island – but, remember the Minnow. Even more difficult to comprehend is that it could crash into the sea and nothing would ultimately float to the surface – a life preserve, trash, debris of some sort. No matter what the problem with the aircraft or the crew, one would think some sort of communication would have occurred.

In one of the most baffling mysteries in recent aviation history, a massive search operation for the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER has so far found no trace of the aircraft or the 239 passengers and crew. (Reuters)

Even more strange is the mystery of how people who attend Church every Sunday (or at least quite regularly) could still be lost and in route to separation from God forever. Surely, one would think, the “crew” of the Church would clearly communicate the Gospel which is the power of God to save. One would think that the debris of human life as it surrounds us during these final days of history would drive one to saving faith. Yet, the truth remains, people continue to be lost in the most sophisticated of environments.

This plane- these people, will be found. But people all over this Metroplex of DFW will spend their lives lost to Truth, grace, faith, salvation, and eternal life.

It is a most disheartening state of affairs.
