Thought For The Day

When Fear Comes

Join the crowd if you are growing more fearful that things are going to get more difficult in the days ahead. Many people are going to lose their jobs, financial portfolios that older Americans were counting on, are shrinking with alarming speed, and there is so much uncertainty about our Nation’s leadership from the White House, to Congress, to the local City Hall.

I think we have lost our way. I see it as quite similar to a hiker who manages to miss a marker, then two, and continues to walk in a particular direction with determination that no matter how far from the established path he wanders, the destination is still the same distance away.

The reality is that hikers get lost, especially when they are careless, and sometimes they get found rather quickly, and sometimes they wander until they are almost dead, and just in the nick of time a rescuer saves the day, and then, as we know full well, some are found dead or, in some cases, not at all.

America has wandered from the paths of righteousness, all the while believing that we have a better idea than the God who has so many times rescued us from dangers on every hand. And while many will disagree, I continue to believe that the only solution to every problem is a return to the God of creation, redemption, and llove.

This is my Father’s world. We have attempted to seize control, abandon our responsibility to Truth, and seek sufficiency from the mind of finite man rather than the infinite God, Lord of all. You might want to pray in the vein of 2 Chronicles 7:14-15:  “When My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from Heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. My eyes will now be open and My ears attentive to prayer from this place.”

I am sure God is listening for you. . .
