It’s Deadly
According to Aman Batheja, writer for the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, “A deadly tree disease that destroyed much of the elm population in Northeastern and Midwestern states has surfaced in Northeast Tarrant County. Given the disease’s track record, local arborists are keeping a close watch and hoping to prevent an epidemic in North Texas. Once it’s confirmed, there’s really nothing you can do but get it out of there and try to keep it from spreading.”
What a setup! That’s exactly like what those of us who are working in the Kingdom of God have been trying to impress upon the people of North Texas. Threre is a deadly disease, which God calls sin, that has infected all men everywhere. Some of us are are “out there” trying to keep it from spreading deep enough into the heart of individuals to eventually kill them.
With the trees, you have to “chop them down,” according to the article. (Does anybody still “chop” down trees? I mean, we have chainsaws now – no chopping) With the “sin” problem there is no chopping or sawing, just a recognition that the llove of God provides the grace of God to redeem the life of the one infected, and through faith, that life is made pure and whole.
You may have to cut a tree if your Elms get infected. You will certainly have to face God, either in His grace, or without it. I recommend the former. If you need help, let me know.
