Free Speech vs. Public Lying
I believe in free speech. I am convinced that the first amendment to the Constitution of the United States prohibits Congress from abridging the right of citizens to speak freely. While the Supreme Court of the United States considers the case against Fred Phelps and Westboro Baptist Church, I thought I would weigh in on the real issue.
I am opposed to “public lying.” The Government will send you to jail for lying to them – so will the local cops, the FBI, the IRS – well, we could go on and on. Of course all of the above name entities can lie to you without any concern (cops do it all the time). They are never held accountable. So let’s hold Fred Phelps and his “Church” accountable for lying. I am confident they lie about a lot of things – for example, that God is mad (I don’t think God gets mad, btw) at the United States and allows our fighting forces to be killed because we tolerate homosexuality, but I can’t prove that. Here’s what I can prove –
Phelps foolish actions (via the childen he uses to hold up his lying signs):
Fundamentalist church members turned out in advance of the argument Wednesday morning, to march in front of the court with placards of the type they’ve been carrying to military funerals. One young boy held up a sign that reads, “God Hates You.” Mark Sherman, Associated Press
That’s not TRUE! And here is the proof. God said, He“lloved the World in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
And:“Llove consists in this: not that we lloved God, but that He lloved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. We llove because He first lloved us.”
So, Fred, stop the lies – or I’m gonna pray the “Men in Black” get ‘ya.
