Thought For The Day

Laugh or Cry

It’s clear Congress is back in session, or at least back in town. Senator Reid doesn’t want Burris from Illinois, Senator Feinstein is fit to be tied she didn’t get a call from President-Elect Obama about Panetta, and Coleman and Franken are going to fight it out in court. There’s going to be endless wrangling over the “stimulus package,” with each side sure they know the right mix of Government interference required  to return the U.S. economy to stability. I really am excited about that possible $500 tax cut–that will solve ALL my financial problems –I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. And the soap opera continues.

Aren’t you glad God did not send a committee? Aren’t you glad God has one plan, and a perfect one at that, and the “rules” never change, and the outcome will be exactly what He said it would be?

I’d wager that somewhere deep inside President Bush, in many ways he is glad it is almost over. Trying to work within the structure (I use the term loosely) of Washington, D. C. politics, has to be beyond the scope of any individual’s patience quotient. We often talk about the “aging” of the President during 8 years in the White House. I don’t think it’s the Middle East or the Terrorists that do it. I think it’s the politics! I think it’s trying to do what is right and best (they do that, right?) and being hounded at every turn. It’s knowing that no matter what decision one makes, it will please almost no one.

I say, “come on home,” Mr. President. “Let someone else give it a shot. And, hey, thanks for keeping us safe for the past eight years.”

Maybe the Father will say that to me pretty soon.  At least I know what the outcome will be!
