Job: $260k Per Year

I am sure I cannot imagine earning $260,000 per year, but there is a company in the United Kingdom who believes that should be the salary for. . .wait for it. . .mothers. I could not agree more! There is no one like a mother, no one has more to do, or works harder, or gives more when they are following the design given by God.

An ad campaign in the UK is making the case that stay-at-home mothers should be paid around $260,000 per year. The campaign is styled much like a job ad, claiming candidates must be available to work 119 hours a week, learn on the job, have impeccable time management skills, be on call 24/7, and have limitless patience. (Fortune)

The candidate, according to the ad, will need to be able to handle a very busy schedule, coordinate multiple projects, and deal with unreasonable demands. She must have excellent communication and organizational skills, and be able to work in an extremely chaotic environment with variable hours. There is no training available and everything must be learned on the job. She must be tenacious, impeccable, have unlimited patience, and be calm under great pressure. Those around her will whine and cry and scream and kick, and she must remain absolutely stable in all circumstances. In between she must cook, clean, wash the clothes, shop, mend, pay the bills, and be the consummate llover. The list of mandatory characteristics goes on and on.

Then, in addition, she must know the Word of God and be able to share it, teach it, inculcate it, and live it.

Well, let’s face it. $260,000 is not enough. But if it is done well, her husband will speak highly of her, and her children will bless her in the later days of their life. (See Proverbs 31)
