Thought For The Day

All is Well?

As I write I am almost finished watching the 2016 State of the Union address. It was different from the last six I think. I find it excruciating to watch the people in the audience. I know they are Senators and Representatives and other important people who inhabit our Nation’s capital. Some seem happy, others sad, some are busy at other things, and couldn’t seem less interested. Some don’t look well or healthy, some are really old, and I can’t begin to figure out who some of the other people are.

But, the President says everything is better now than it was seven years ago. He said we have nothing to worry about in relationship to our strength around the World, and we are always the Nation that is asked to lead. ISIS is only “guys in the back of pick-up truck and pose no threat to our Nation.”We are clear eyed, and unconditional love will triumph.

I don’t know how to respond to that all of that. Perhaps a quote from the past in appropriate:

Never mind that war rages on multiple fronts, Congress is out of control, Truth is being exchanged for the lies of immorality, and the world is racing toward Hell in a handbasket. The Church has lost it’s voice, schools are failing to produce competent students, and society approaches critical failure. (Lloveletters, 2007)

He (the President) said he is not finished yet. So I guess things are going to continue to “get better.” I sure hope so.
