Thought For The Day

New Things

Tonight (June 30, 2017) I will do a new thing. I am often eager for new things, and I am willing to do almost anything that is not dangerous, or illegal, or immoral.

I have been invited to an “event” in the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon, along with a picnic, followed by a ballet in the open air theatre. The event is a surprise, and I have never been to a ballet (I have enjoyed a few picnics). So. . .it does appear to be an interesting afternoon and evening.

Then, tomorrow evening, my bride and I, along with our Portland son and family, will join some friends for a dinner at Swagat Indian Cuisine. I have never eaten in an Indian restaurant. . .nor had much, if any, Indian cuisine.

I am sure my life will not change much due to these exciting adventures, but at least I can say. . .”been there, done that.”

It reminds me that our Heavenly Father always has  new things available for us. If we are willing to open our heart and mind (our innermost being) we will find new (to us) Truths, new opportunity, and new adventures as we move toward fulfilling His perfect will for each life.

Saying “NO” to new things is sometimes the process whereby we miss the good gifts our Father has for us. Oh, I know, new things can be really bad, or seem  really bad if we do not first confirm that the gift is actually from God. Bringing in the pop/rock band to lead the songs at Church might be an example of a new thing gone bad.

Open your heart and mind to “new” things. The Word of God has more  wonderful news than we know. God’s family can be greater than we ever imagined. Llove can be received, given, shared, enjoyed, and our profit from same can be limitless.

A ballet, really? Ok. Here goes!
