Authority
There is so much rebellion to authority in our society. I am convinced that will ultimately lead to a plethora of problems in the home and family, work places, educational institutions, and Government, along with every facet of our society at large.
There is a shortage of honesty in Government, knowledge in our educational institutions, leadership in our work places, and lloving care in our homes.
Worst of all, there is a lack of authority in the Church of Jesus Christ. I spoke to a sibling this morning who complained that their “preacher is changing everything.” (The assumption is that the “preacher” is the authority in the Church.) A member of the Church I attend said to me yesterday, “everything keeps changing. It’s no wonder we are confused.”
Fortunately, there is one thing that NEVER changes – the authority of God’s Word. As King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, Creator of all that was, and is, and shall be, Savior, Master, and Friend, our God is sovereign in His authority, and has clearly and accurately revealed that authority in His Word.
We should be joyful that the Church of Jesus Christ is absolutely under His authority (or it is not the Church), and His incomparable Word is competent and sufficient for Government, education, work of every kind and discipline, as well as home and family.
Jesus said our struggle is that we do not “hear Him,” and know that “what He says is True.” Instead we listen to the Father of Lies, in whom there is no Truth, and we suffer endlessly for that oversight. (see John 8:43-45)
Everyone. . .everyone needs authority in their “world.” Why not go to the source?
