Thought For The Day

Sad

Having spent a good bit of time in the beautiful forests and mountains of Oregon, Washington, and surrounding states, I am sadden by the massive fires that are destroying so much of God’s beautiful creation. It takes a long time for forests to return to the pristine beauty that is so prevalent in those areas.

A couple of years ago I walked through some extensive “burns” in Three Sisters Wilderness. It was surreal thinking about the ultimate destruction of this Earth and the new one to follow. I am convinced that when the New Earth has come (see Revelation 21:1) there will be no more destroying fire, earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, tsunamis, and such.

As I write “Irma” is moving into Florida. Houston and the surrounding area is trying desperately to recover, and the fire burns on, consuming its prey. God’s people are invited to pray, give, volunteer, share, or help in any way possible those who are no longer without hurt and devastation.

At least one “Hollywood Star” has attributed these predicaments to President Trump’s election (the height of silly ignorance), and others blame “global warming,” or just an intemperate “Mother Nature.” The reality is that they result as part of the curse of sin and death in our World. We can, however, rest in the Truth that one day soon God will put an end to these woes, and establish a perfect Earth, an incomprehendible Heaven, and fill infinity with His presence.

Make sure you are ready for that. The alternative will be more of the same multiplied by unthinkable degrees as one spend eternity separated from God’s grace and llove.

If you need help finding that readiness, drop me a note. I will give you some ideas where you can find the Truth.
