Veracity
The Dictionary says that “veracity” is, in part, “habitual truthfulness.” I am sure I don’t have to remind you that veracity is in short supply in our society. Everywhere one turns they are confronted with the obvious obfuscation of truth even in areas where the truth is not difficult to find, and failing to be truthful won’t help a situation or circumstance.
Our Government leaders and followers (politicians) are near, if not over the top, in the parade of misleading citizens regarding almost everything. . .especially the financial operation of our Nation. They just promised 15 billion dollars (which will undoubtedly increase) to aid in recovery efforts due to the hurricanes, but are not telling you that they will steal that money from your great grandkids. And that’s because they have already spent your money, your kid’s money, and your grandkid’s money. The truth of a 20 trillion dollar debt is just to much for the American citizen to handle. . .so a little lie (that they have the money to spend) will help.
Sports promoters (e.g. businessmen, educational institutions, medical personnel, professional sports team’s owners, etc.) will not tell you, and hope you don’t find out, that bodies and brains, and consequently lives, are being destroyed by contact sports like football. The damage begins in the “toddlers” games, and damages exponentially throughout till the “pros” die with CTE, leaving behind a wife and kids and grieving family.
Preachers and “churches” will tell you that it doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you believe something. After all, religions are all the same, and “God helps those who help themselves.” Just give more money, shout louder, and develop an “ecstatic utterance,” and all will be well.
Meanwhile the veracity of Scripture (God’s revealed Word) is hidden under a veil of ignorance as its Truth becomes obscure – “hidden,” “mystical,” and “beyond comprehension,” promulgated by those who neither know nor recognize the Truth, even, when in reality, it is perfectly clear, correct, precise, and accurate and thoroughly comprehensible.
If you are not hearing that where you spend your Sundays, you are being led down a path that does not lead to God.
