A Better Morning
According to TIME there are “three secrets to having a better morning.” Personally I am pretty excited that I wake up in the morning. . .considering my age and how many folks are out to get me (a little paranoia joke there).
Here are their three. . .and my comments about them:
(1) Feel a Sense of Purpose. Yeah, well, “feeling a sense of purpose” and “having a purpose are two different things.” So here’s my suggestion: live every day with the purpose of allowing your life to reflect the glory of God, and allow His Spirit to direct your walk and way. Your purpose will be clearly evident.
(2) Feel in Control. I have found that about the only thing I can control is my attitude toward whatever is coming my way. I long ago learned that I cannot control circumstances or other people. I can’t change the vagaries of life or miss all the happenstances that leave me wondering what went wrong. I can be in control of my thinking, actions, and reactions. . .because of number 1.
(3) Feel Optimistic. There are only a few things I can be optimistic about (considering the slippery slope our Nation is on, the ineffective leadership we find in Government, and the failures of the Church to be what He designed) which include the Truth that, 1) God can and will intervene when it is right and best for Him to do so. 2) I am confident my family and friends llove me and will provide a resource for my needs. 3) I am absolutely certain God can and will provide for my Spiritual well-being, and help me to understand that he has already gifted me with “everything necessary for life, both spiritual and physical” (see Ephesians 1:3ff, and Philippians 4:19). Looking for other thing to be optimistic about has about run it’s course in my thinking. We are moving closer to the days of Noah (think:Flood) when, “Jehovah saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5).
So. . .when I get up in the morning, I shall say, “Praise God! Another day. Lord, let this be a day that pleases, honors, and glorifies You in every thing I say and do. My life is in your hands. Do what you will.
