A Major Disturbance
In the book of Acts, chapter 19, we are told about a major disturbance regarding “the Way.” I’ve been thinking that it is time for another – disturbance, that is.
There was a furor among some of the folks because Paul was spreading the Word that their handmade god Artemis was not exactly on equal footing with the Creator of Heaven and Earth Who had sent His only Son to redeem mankind from the curse of sin.
There was a bit of a “dust-up” before the politicians (see verse 35) got things calmed down.
I was thinking that what we need is the Church of Jesus Christ to take a visible, vocal, adamant stand against the gods of this world and our society. The Church could refuse to allow sin to continue unabated in its membership. Anger and resentment, gossip and bitterness, infidelity to Christ and disinterest in spiritual maturity could be rooted out of the Body of Christ, and driven by a new unity of faith, measured by obedience to the revealed Word of God, we could take our stand in the marketplace, the political arena, the educational venues, and in public discourse, till there was a disturbance the likes of which has never been seen before as the Spirit of God draws the chosen ones of God into the Kingdom.
Well, pardon me, I realize now I was just dreaming.
