Close! But Still Wrong
I can’t help but believe that our President (of the United States) is sincere, but he is sincerely wrong. When “partisan politics” becomes the focus of our Government, rather than what is right and best for the people of America, we are always on the wrong side of history.
It’s time to stop writing about this issue, so I will make this my last post (unless I need to visit it again) on the matter.
In a Yahoo News publication it is said that the President, in addressing the perceived need for additional “gun controls”, “embraced a broader approach, stressing that “there’s no law or set of laws that can prevent every senseless act of violence in our society.”
That is simply not true. Absolute adherence to the TRUTH of God’s revealed Word can and will stop “every senseless act of violence”
Then the President gets so close to the TRUTH it is agonizing to watch as we simply waste the words by the actions which follow.
“And any actions we must take must begin inside the home and inside our hearts.” (IBID.)
Yes, Mr. President! Unequivocally! It is time to remove destruction of the home and family from the Nation’s political agenda. It is time to recognize that if our hearts are not changed by the llove and grace of God, no amount of “law” will stop violence and hatred, vengeance and retribution.
No person of wisdom believes that “lawlessness” (the nature of man without God) will be banished from our society, much less the Earth, but perhaps (I confess I am not certain, it may be too late in the eschatological calendar) we can begin, to a degree, a reversal of the coming anarchy by a return to the God of our forefathers. I am reminded of these words of George Washington, first President of the United States, during his Inaugural Address, April 30, 1789:
It would be peculiarly improper to omit in this first official act my fervent supplications to that Almighty Being who rules over the universe, who presides in the councils of nations, and whose providential aids can supply every human defect, that His benediction may consecrate to the liberties and happiness of the people of the United States a Government instituted by themselves for these essential purposes, and may enable every instrument employed in its administration to execute with success the functions allotted to his charge. In tendering this homage to the Great Author of every public and private good, I assure myself that it expresses your sentiments not less than my own, nor those of my fellow-citizens at large less than either. No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men more than those of the United States. Every step by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency; and in the important revolution just accomplished in the system of their united government the tranquil deliberations and voluntary consent of so many distinct communities from which the event has resulted can not be compared with the means by which most governments have been established without some return of pious gratitude, along with an humble anticipation of the future blessings which the past seem to presage.
Mr. President. Now!
