Collective Forgiveness
I’ve been thinking about that “litany” in yesterday’s Worship. Sometimes our Pastor surprises even me. But I think I got the point. While we all spoke together the prayer for forgiveness for failing to remember so many of the things that are a part of our Spiritual heritage, and the multitude of Divine promises that are ours, we recognize that each individual (rather than a collective group) must confess (agree with God) their personal sin in this matter.
While most of us have a bit of a problem with ignorance regarding the Truth as revealed in God’s Word, the greater problem may be our rebellion related to what we do know. I was struck by the fact that the disciples continued to be concerned about the “bread” (their daily meal) in the presence of the “Bread of Life” who had demonstrated every capability of meeting each need they would or could face in living.
Perhaps you recognize that you sometimes forget His power, or His presence, or His sufficiency. If so, perhaps a prayer for forgiveness is in order. Don’t let ignorance or rebellion stand in the way of His blessings in your daily life.
