Thought For The Day

Controversial

One must be careful what one writes – even after several years the words will come back (at least for conservative writers) when one runs for political office, especially if that office is President of the United States.

Rich Santorum’s book, It Takes A Family, is in the news again.

Rick Santorum was warned more than a year before his decisive 2006 Senate re-election defeat that the controversial book he was writing would provide his opponents with damaging ammunition to use against him. A review of the manuscript of Santorum’s book, “It Takes A Family: Conservatism and the Common Good,” conducted by political operatives several months before it was published found what the reviewers called “a fair amount of political opportunities,” for Santorum’s rivals. What reviewers found was a good bit of truth. Not the drivel that passes for truth, but the genuine understanding of what is actually true versus what the vast majority of liberal thinkers wish was true. And that will “bite” you when the stakes are as high as the Presidency.

I long ago discovered that the best selling book in the World, the Bible, is not very popular with those who struggle with Truth. It just never seems to fit in with our choices when we are not possessed by the Spirit of God. It tends to run against the “more popular” choices when morality is on the block.

I guess it is a good thing that Jehovah God is not running for President of the United States. The reviewers would find lots of stuff to indite Him for being “too conservative,” or some-such.
